PWA or mobile app? A decision through Photonza
An event guest first needs to reach the right photo feed, without an installation step.
Start with the context of use
Photonza, previously Wedmomento, is our product for bringing event photos together. A QR-accessible workflow lets guests join without visiting an app store. For short-lived or event-specific use, this is a foundational product decision. Explaining a PWA choice only through development cost misses the guest’s context and the steps needed for first use.
Find the relevant photos after joining
Collecting photos in one feed does not by itself help a guest find the images they appear in. Photonza’s selfie-based photo search addresses that second task. Access, uploads, discovery and event management all belong in the product scope. Who can access shared content, and how it is managed, should be discussed as early as the first screen.
There is no universal answer
Another product may be better served by a native app when it needs deep device integration, background execution or platform-specific experiences. Browser support and connectivity require their own evaluation. Photonza’s approach is a response to a context where reducing entry friction matters, rather than a recommendation to make every product a PWA. Before choosing, we list target devices, repeat-use patterns and required device capabilities together.
